THE TURNING POINTS OF WORLD WAR II

A turning point is a point in a war or campaign where one combatant experiences a reversal in fortune. The combatant losses the initiative, suffers loss of freedom in a theater of war and the opponent assumes the offensive. In WW II there were five key turning point battles each of which enabled the Allies to mount offensive operations to achieve strategic objectives and ultimately attain victory. The presentation will relate what the five critical battles were and their outcomes.

It is important for us to not only remember the past but to understand the events of the WW II era that took place and how they affect our world today. World War II is now recognized by historians as the most significant event of the 20th Century.

To further its mission, the WW II Eras Studies Institute offers for viewing a unique series of video programs that feature the stories of a generation that fought and won WW II. It also offers informative presentations pertaining to the history of the WW II era and its impact, and educational seminars on the actions and deeds that not only helped shape the outcome of the war, but the very world we live in today.
